Remove the Lid

July 2, 2012 — 2 Comments

Painting a room is a great way to update your home. It takes a little time, a little money, and a willingness to stick with the project until it is done. The home improvement shows on television make us think it is easier than it really is. They can paint an entire room in about 2 minutes, or so it seems.

Choosing the paint is an important part of the painting process. The next most important part of the process might come as a surprise–taking the lid off the paint. Unless you take the lid off, the potential impact of the paint will remain tucked away.

The same is true in our lives. If we are going to live our whys, we must take the lid off of our lives. Lids come in a variety of forms. Some are self-imposed such as doubt, worry, lack of motivation, etc. Some are external such as working environment, time availability, and opportunity.

As long as there are lids on our lives, our potential will remain hidden. We’ll have great ideas, moments of creative genius, and revolutionary reinventions. However, they will never see the light of day. Dare to remove the lid from your life. You might be surprised at how much difference you can make in the world right now. Think about it.

What lids are on your life right now? What will it take to remove them?

Terry, I saw your comment on Dan Miller’s (48days.com) post and clicked on your link. Your post hit the nail right on the head for me today. I was thinking right before I read your post that I am going go for what I know I am to do. As you state, I have to take the lid off some things in my life. The lid of doubt, fear, worry about what others might think or say and other lids. If I  keep the lids on then I will never live my life to its full potential. Thanks for this awesome post.
